Church History
Meadow View Missionary Baptist Church was organized September 13, 1936 with 22 members. Twenty-one came from Magnet Cove Missionary Baptist Church and one came from Muse, Oklahoma Baptist Church. Presbytery for ordination was Bros. C. P. McCorkle, Omar Hardin, Clarence Floyd, Calvin Hughes and Bro. Bailey. Bro. Hardin acted as moderator. Serving with our first pastor, Bro. Clarence Floyd, were deacons L. M. Petty, Ewell Hammons and Frank Bryant. Church Treasurer was Ewell Hammons and Church Secretary Mrs. Austin Kennery (Ozema). Our meeting place was the school house located on top of the hill from our last church building. Our name came from looking out over the meadow from the school house. We had Sunday School each Sunday and preaching once a month. Magnet Cove's Pastor preached to us on Saturday evening.

Later the building burned, caught fire during service, Bro. Earl Page was the pastor. We them met in a building near the railroad crossing, called the old hotel. Bro. Page urged us to immediately try to locate land to build on. We were trying to get a building started, but it was very slow. We didn't have the money, but Bro. Webb was a builder and was contracted. He figured our cost on just one room, the auditorium. He got the foundation poured and came to the store, where I worked for Mr. Fate Conzel, and asked for $1,500. That much money scared me. I told him I would see Bro. Keeton, our Treasure at that time. The men made an arrangement to borrow the money and Bro. Webb kept working.

Alcoa was building the plant here by now. Men stopped by the store to get their checks cashed and I would ask them for a donation for our church building. Many of them gave a 50 cent donation.

As time went by, we managed to get into our new building by 1944. The Lord blessed us. Our church family grew, so we then added some Sunday School rooms.

In 1956 we built the parsonage with Bro. Russell Almond as our pastor. We also added the north wing.

Years have gone by and God still blesses us. We have had 20 pastors and ordained to the ministry Bro. Carmie Miller (September 30, 1951) and Bro Doyle Sandage (July 24, 1955). We now have a membership of 231. Our current Pastor, Bro. Fred Etheridge, came to us March 3, 1988. We currently have 8 deacons: Choyce Cox, Elbert Crumby, Sam Langston, Ed Skelton, Donnie Overton, James Hughen, Harold Keeton and Marty Martin. James Hughen serves as our Treasurer and Joy Kennerly as Church Clerk. With this 53 years, we move into our new building on December 3, 1990 with a new beginning. May we each have a big heart of love and faith to move forward.
